2024 Q1 Letter - Thoughts From Leadership

Fiegen Shop Talk

2024 has gotten off to a quick start for Fiegen Construction, and I would like to share some news.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce Rusty—my brother and longtime partner in the business—has decided to move on from ownership. While it is difficult to sum up Rusty’s achievements over the last 40 years, I would like to congratulate him on his outstanding leadership and work ethic. He has dedicated so much of his time, specifically to workforce development within our firm, and he will continue to work as a Senior Advisor on our staff, setting an example of service as we move forward. Rusty will now have more free time for family and his favorite pastimes, but knowing Rusty, he’ll always be a phone call away.

We are excited to announce that, as of January 1st, Lucas Fiegen and Mark Stordahl have committed to the long-term strategy that we have in place at Fiegen Construction. This plan includes continued quality, accountability, and teamwork, allowing our firm to build upon our reputation for exceptional buildings for our clients.

Lucas is proving himself time and time again to be a strong third-generation leader and has earned the position of President of the firm. He is engaged in ALL aspects of Fiegen and will continue to be an asset to our wonderful community. You may know his enthusiastic leadership style, architectural prowess, or his trailblazing personality. But I have watched him evolve into a leader that our founder, Ron Fiegen, would be very proud of—and I, a proud father.

Mark will continue in his role as CFO, molding his accounting team with the same brilliance he has demonstrated over the past 20 years with Fiegen. His leadership in training and development across all areas of our firm has led to consistency and bolstered our foundation. Mark’s unwavering commitment lies in spearheading the integration of cutting-edge technology, innovative software programs, and streamlined processes, propelling our business forward on a trajectory of continuous evolution and growth.

These gentlemen not only care about the company, but they also have the utmost desire to continue providing the skilled workforce and quality that our clients are accustomed to.

Our succession and transition goals don’t stop there. We’re continuing to plan and improve for our employees, clients, business partners, subcontractors, and suppliers. Our principles at Fiegen Construction will not change, and our clients will always be valued, reflecting our humble beginnings six decades ago.
