Mater Ecclesiae Monastery

The Fiegen Construction team completed a new monastery for the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls. The new building features individual bedroom cells for the Sisters, a spacious dining hall, a sewing room, and an attached chapel. The $5 million monastery was funded with donations from the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls.

The project began with the demolition and relocation of the existing structures, then construction of the updated facility, which is located on the grounds of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph. There were several challenges associated with this construction project. Overhead utility lines posed a risk to workers and the project needed to be coordinated to work cause as little disruption as possible to the St. Joseph Cathedral campus.
